Curriculum Vitae

Barbara Krüger obtained her violin diploma at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Como in 1998, under the guidance of Susanne Holm, followed by a masterclass at the Conservatorio di Lugano in 2002 in the class of Massimo Quarta. She then went on to specialise in various masterclasses: with Maestro Massimo Quarta (July 2000) Orchestral Passage Preparation Course with Anthony Flint (2000) “Orchesterakademie” in collaboration with the Tonhalle orchestra under D. Zinman (September 2001) Quartet Academy in Fiesole with P.Farulli, H. Beyerle, N. Brainin, M. Skampa (March 2002). Quartet course at the Royal Academie-London with the Amadeus Quartet (July 2002) Masterclass with M. Christians at the Musiksommer-Lenk (August 2003) Masterclass with Igor Oistrakh in Basle (September 2004) In addition, for chamber music she was followed by M. Quarta, R. Vlatkovic, R. Cohen, N. Doallo, M. Ancillotti.

Various orchestral experiences followed: member of the Symphony Orchestra of the ‘Accadémie Européenne de Musique’ in Tournon (France 1992/1994). CD recording under the direction of Jan Dobrezelewski (Tain l’Hermitage 1994).

As a member of the Camerata giovanile della Svizzera Italiana she won first prizes at the international competitions of Stresa (1989), Moncalieri (1991), Ispra (1991,1993), Zurich Tonhalle (1993 with CD recording), Aarau (1998).

In addition to frequent appearances as concertmaster, she also performed as a soloist with CD recording (1994)

Member of the World Youth Orchestra (JMWO 1999,2000); tours in Canada, USA, Germany, Switzerland and Poland under the direction of Yoav Talmi and Kurt Masur. Tours in Germany and Austria under the baton of Yakov Kreizberg. Member of the ‘Orchestre du Accadémie d’exellence Musiké’ under the direction of Jean-Bernard Pommier (summer 2001). Member of the Swiss Youth Orchestra (summer-autumn 2001) with Nello Santi and Kai Buman.

From 2002 to 2009 she was a member of the Orchestra Symphonica d’ Italia as substitute concertmaster of second violins on numerous international tours under the direction of Lorin Maazel.

As second violin and first violin concertmaster she worked in the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, the Orchestra Cantelli and the Accademia delle Opere, also performing as soloist.

From 2010 to 2022 she held the position of second concertmaster of the Orchestra Filarmonica italiana.

She has regularly collaborated with the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, and the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

Lately, work commitments tie her more to the Orchestra del Gran Teatro La Fenice and Orchestra Toscanini in Parma.

She is very active in chamber music, since 2010 working in duo with Claudio Giacomazzi in “DuoJig” and since 2024 in trio with Mattia Zappa and Claudio Giacomazzi in “Trio Le Invenzioni”.

The role of artistic director since 2013 for the “Classic Festival Aletsch” in Bettmeralp, since 2025 artistic director of “Note d’Autunno” in Lugano and teaching complete her musical activity.
